I only believe in destiny as far as saying we're all destined to want to live. And through the desire to live we seek things and may find inevitability through our seeking, making us feel that it had to happen that way. But I don't think that's destiny as much as gravity; like dropping a ball at the top of a hill and saying it ended up at the bottom because it was destined to do so.

We know we want things but we don't know why we want them. Ask a child what it wants and it always knows even if it can't use the bathroom without making a mess. How can it know? It's just instinct. All life knows it wants to live and does its best to do so. Is that destiny? I think it's just plain ole innocence.

I think our destiny is totally within our control as long as we live and are physicly capable of achieving goals.

It takes desire, percevernce, and determination to achieve goals.
And if we fail, we set new goals.

Or you can coast through life and achieve nothing but dreams.

Either is ok as long as you are satisfied with it.

But destiny?
No, it takes action to accomplish anything.
A destiny would imply it happens weather you act or not.

Having to study for decent grades should illustrate this perfectly.
Never open a book or listen, and being intelligent is not enough.

Smart is absorbing knowledge with little effort.
Smarter is absorbing it no matter how much energy it takes you.
Even smarter is achieving the goal.

oo they're good comments :) but what if we do each have a destiny and we're sorta guided through things by something unseen.
like even the choices we make and the things we do are part of it, like everything in ur mind and ur life is destined to happen..

u wouldn't know it ;)

If something is unknown and will always be unknowable, then for you it does not exist.

I believe the future is not set, has nothing meant to be, and is not predictable other than as events set in motion by the histories befor the now.

The history of earth has led it to this moment and there is every reason to expect it to continue in it's orbit.
Your history has led you to this moment, and your decisions plus other convergent histories determine what happens next.
That is what I believe.

something being unknowable doesn't mean it doesn't exist :) it just means u don't know about it ever.. which is kinda sad if u never know it exists.
i'm not saying it does btw..xP

so u don't think that some things happen for a reason either??
i'd like to believe some things do..

Your belief in some things having a purpose is OK.
I believe the enire universe was created for a purpose.
It is the details I question.

If the outcome was set, all that happens is pre ordained, why bother doing it at all?
Why bother with free will?
May as well skip to the ending.
I believe the creator made the universe as a place where even he does not know all that will happen.
In this way he experiances new discovery.

The universe had a beginning, it will have an end where all of mass/energy will converge to a common fate.
But there are many paths that lead to this common fate.
It is the foundation of the Heisenburgh Uncertainty principal of quantum physics.
In this way there is the totally random encapsulated within the certain.

God does not want to be worshipped.
He wants to be entertained.
Entertainment value is only there when you don't know how the movie will end.

Oscer Wilde said All the worlds a stage, and all the people actors.
I think that all the universe is a stage.
Nothing more entertaining than the drama of an entire Universe of actors.
The ultimate drama of life, death, the universe and everything.

Does not mean that my beliefs are correct.
We love our movies.
Even if a God created us for entertainment, maybe he loves his characters too.
